CUPITT'S ESTATE WINERY

Our Winery in Ulladulla was established in 2007, after the vineyard that was first planted in 2003 provided enough fruit for our first vintage. Rosie was our winemaker at the time, and brought her French & Italian educated & inspired hands to the helm. Her award-winning winemaking has formed the foundation of what our winery is today, and her influence is prevalent throughout.

Wally Cupitt (Rosie’s son) is now our Head Winemaker and brings with him a strategic & inspired yet relaxed strategy to the process. After learning winemaking in the Loire Valley in France, Wally also brings the traditional mentality of less is best; he helps the grapes find their voice but ultimately lets them do the talking.

We have a strong focus on creating wines with structure & complexity that become a true reflection on each varietal character and the region in which they are grown.

While we have a vineyard on site at our South Coast Winery, majority of our grapes are sourced from cool climate regions across New South Wales and Victoria, including Hilltops, Tumarumba, Orange, the Yarra Valley and Canberra District.

Sourcing our grapes from the best regions across the country allows us to produce a range of varieties with grapes that are grown in optimal conditions to enhance their innate structure, complexities and palate profiles. The grapes find their way to our winery on the South Coast of NSW and the result is a comprehensive line up of beautiful boutique, small-batch European wines that celebrate character and distinction.

When asked what he loves about wine, Wally shares “the way it can evolve over time, how it’s so complex and surprising. I love how different the same varieties can be when grown in different regions, and how my challenge is to uncover the best qualities in each batch of grapes - to hero them and enhance their natural structure without too much interference.”
